Why are phone cable coiled and supercoiled, instead of simply straight resembling other wires?

Answers:    First answer is correct unless you are talking nearly phone line nouns wires......in which defence the purpose of the coils is to reduce electromagnetic interference. This is cause by induction which occurs more glibly when many bundles of wires are strung together, such as inside conduit for instance.

Thus phone wires are sometimes call "twisted pairs" of wires.
So they take up smaller number space, and don't curl up on the floor where you could trip over them.
