My cell phone have started acting unnatural. When someone call, it one and only rings once (on both ends).?

I can use it just fine when i dial out. I checked the outside box and open it up and connected the telephone directly to it and have someone call me and rings ordinary. But i tried the only two lines surrounded by the house and they both do the same entity (rings once). I called my touchtone phone company and they say that i dont hold maintnance on my account , so they wont come out. (I be kinda mad, I ALWAYS put maintnance on any phone i bring back but o'well). So what the hell should i do? Plz anyone.

Answers:    Ringing voltage is AC (alternating current). Talk path voltage is DC (direct current). A cellular phone ringer uses a capacitor in series across the queue. A capacitor will stop DC voltage but let AC current ratify through. This allows the AC current to ring the ringer with out shorting the headset line. In everyday operation once you answer the phone you short out the line stopping the ringing and the DC voltage pass through the telephone introduce yourself, dial and handset providing chitchat path.
You hold a bad capacitor contained by your telephone ringer that it shorting out the mobile line once ringing voltage is applied.
this is call a "pre-trip" when the phone rings once and then get cut off...

99 percent of the time it is cause by a defective phone, and the cause to the phone becoming defective is typically lightning or some other sort of power surge on your phone line...

disconnect one phone/fax/modem/sattelite box (any entity else that may be connected to dial tone) one at a time, and try dialing your number with a cell phone, or other phone splash...

other troubleshooting that can be done is removing your inside wiring at the nid, and trying to send for into your line near a cell or diffrent line...

if you do not find blame with any of your phones, but the trouble still exists when disconnected at the NID, check your jacks for hose damage, usuallay the pins will look greenish or black within color, should normallay be copper in color..

if you do not find failure with your phones, and the trouble still exists when you remove the rope from the NID then the trouble IS outside, and you have need of to call your phone company pay for to send a technician to fix the trouble on the row outside..

even if you do not pay the maintanace the phone company should distribute a tech to your home, but will charge you if the trouble is inside...

the few occasions that this trouble is outside customarily happens when you are on a fiber optic smudge, as opposed to a copper queue to the central department, and the line card at the terminal become defective...

EDIT:
also make sure hail as forward is not active on your file... dial 73# to disable any call forwarding that may be on your row
You have what is prearranged as a rectified loop on your strip, one of your sockets is probably wet or corroded inside, remove the front panel and look at them, if they are a nice shade of green, there is your guiltiness. If not, have you done anything surrounded by your house that could cause moisture surrounded by the cables or sockets, plastering etc and check around this nouns, hope this helps, honest luck. In the UK we call this ring trip.
I enjoy had similiar problems and the trouble be and still is inside the house. It appears to be the shoddy workmanship where Verizon installed and made the DSL connections. Follow the outside flex to the inside and check the connections. Verizon whacked me $91 because the problem is inside.
