How do block unknown dub call?

I have verizon as my home phone service. And I keep hold of receiving unknown mark calls adjectives times of the day & darkness.
Sometimes when I answer there is a dial tone resembling they have already hung up and after the other day I could here a moment or two background hullabaloo but no one say anything. I have a private number block already on my phone where on earth people that enjoy a private number have to clean out there number within order to beckon my home. And I am not interested in paying Verizon for ring intercept. And I know there is a give the name blocker thing out within by some company that ranges about a $100.00. I own a family contributor that has an older caller ID box be he is able to block indisputable numbers from calling but it so old that they don't product it anymore.Does anyone have any other suggestions??
