How do the two wires run on my phone chain?

I have an antiquated one and the green on one end is on the departed and the red on the right. It's opposite on the other finish off of the wire.Does it business if you switch the two? I only own one 4 prong connector and I need to grasp it right. Thanks

Answers:    It is usually ring, right, red but in you shield just hook it up. You can't hurt anything. Then check to see if you can telephone out. If you can, don't do anything. If you can't call out, reverse the wires.
Only two wires are used on the four prongs, the other two date pay for to the days before hurricane lantern emitting diodes on the phones. They be used to power the lights on the phone.
modern phone devices do not care what the polarity of the electric wiring is, if you connect it "backwards" it should not affect your line..

red>red
green>green

yellow/black are for a second column...
Just connect the red to the red and the green to the green, it doesn't matter which is on the vanished and which is on the right as long as the same colors are used on both ends. The sickly, black are used for a second line. Visit the site below, it have useful information give or take a few phone lines.
