Telephone troubles?

I've just bought a alien cordless phone after the last one stopped working. The setup is that I hold two cordless phones, one upstairs and one downstairs. Before the upstairs one stopped working both phones were fine. Now I enjoy problems with the upstairs one and I've tried plugging within the downstairs one to see if the phone was damaged but it had equal problem.

The problem is that although the phone detects an incoming call (it displays the tourist number on the display) I cannot answer the call, nor can I clear a call from the phone. I can't hear a dial tone.

The phone is a BT Freestyle 3200 and I'm on TalkTalk near broadband. I've had the broadband beside TalkTalk for some time and the phone has worked fine until lately.

Apart from YahooAnswers, I don't know who to contact, because you can bet that BT will blame TalkTalk, TalkTalk will put me through to someone in India who hasn't a clue what I'm conversation about, and both will blame me! Any help out would be greatly appreciated.

Answers:    Hi Potty.
its does seem at 1st that one of the phones have a problem.
But assuming you have a socket both upstairs and downstairs, check these hold dial tone with a typical cabled phone.. if ok, ensure one is a master and other is a slave, (master has x3 components on the back- slave doesnt)
if this is ok.... and your confident that the phones is ok, consequently its reception or settings. someone or something is blocking the signal. Assuming the 3200 is a dect phone, this is very tough to do. but if its analogue, every now and afterwards you get some hissing..after this could be a neighbour and taxi firm etc... and you will inevitability to chnage the channel, as most usually have 8.
If its a dect phone, ring the phones helpline, Argos typically have it on the phones bit, but if adjectives is ok,i would try a friend phone in at hand, i have and other used panasonic, these only ever go wrong due to the battery or ill-treat, like my son dropping it!. a x4 pack which is adjectives you would ever need and from panasonics website they are cheaper than big st stores!
hope this helps...well brought-up luck
You need to register your phone next to the hub. Dig out your setup instructions or come back here.
