Can I telephone 911 from a disconnected landline?

I've heard that I can still send for 911 from my landline as long as it is hooked up to a phone jack even though I don't subscribe to a phone service. Is this true?

Answers:    You generally have need of a dial tone to make a christen. However if your land queue phone has a pulse tone to it, you might ask if a free emergency file is available in your nouns. I am not sure if phone companies are still using that system. I suggest looking for a phone repairperson working somewhere in you community. When you see them, ask them how to product an emergency call short a dial tone. I know for sure that they have a opening of doing it. Any telephone repairperson on CEQnA.com ?
