Why does my answering piece of equipment story those can messages?

After someone calls and doesnt start out a message its like the message contraption hangs onto the dash and records one of those automated responses from the cell phone company.....like remember you must dial nouns code first before dialing the number


Answers:    it hung up and its acting approaching its off hook untill the message device hangs up.
