VOIP Headset?
It would be used for telecommunications business purposes, not resembling the internet phone service (example-vonage or sykpe).
Answers: The term "VoIP Headset" is simply a marketing term to bring the attention to VoIP users that a finicky headset "can" be used to make VoIP call over a PC.
The reality is, you can use any microphone, headset, or combination headset that includes earphones and mic for telecommunications over the computer. Makes no difference whether you are VoIPing or calling direct on PSTN rank using Voice Modem on computer connected to phone line as frequent telemarketing companies do.
One of the best names within headsets is Plantronics. They tend to be on the pricey side, but they hold a high reputation.
I use the Plantronics DSP-400 and DSP-500 "USB" headset for all my PC VoIP call.
DSP headsets are considered the best because they incorporate audio signal processing and rumpus reduction.
USB headset plug directly into any USB port on your PC and does not require you to use the separate mic. or headphone jacks.
You want a USB "Headset" also because it includes a microphone built-into the headset and thus you can operate the PC "hands-free" without have to tie-up one hand for holding microphone or a mobile handset.

some VOIP lines dont plug into the computer at adjectives, its just phone service through your cable strip.
Phone services like Vonage hold to be closer to the computer, because it actually uses up your internet bandwidth.
