Can I find an independent Telephone Engineer, not BT.?

I have BT line rental although I settle for the calls through Sky. My phone is playing up for the fourth time. I know what the problem is but if I get BT out they will charge me another lb200 to fix it. Can I take an independent telephone engineer out to fix it or do I hold to get BT, who haven't done a good charge the last 3 times?

If you see an engineer out and going on for and ask him, i'm sure he'll do it for a small fee.
Its not BT who charge you its Sky. BT Openreach pass at hand charges onto your SP who then pass it on to you if they want.
Also the problem you vote doesnt make sense. If the problem is externally you won't be charged, but if damp is getting contained by your house that is your fault.
What happened to Sunrocket internet phone service?..
if the problem is next to the line to the master box, then appointment sky who will send a BT engineer. If it's internal from the box to the rest of the house, next anyone can do this (though most are ex-bt).
