Answers: thats what virgin is all their phones are earnings as u go. no contract no activation excise no nada. and yes if u use the cards u can still use the extra features.
First, most virgin mobile phones are pre-paid and if not adjectives you have to do is call upon 611 on the cell phone (customer service for all cell phone providers) and inform them that you would like to amend your service plan from contract 2 pre- paid it's usally free to do that.
And second, usally the number of minutes u catch on a pre-paid card has nothin to do next to your features, but it does affect you buyin wallpapers, ringtones, ect. the minutes should not affect your phone features period.
