What is the process of switching cell phones below impossible to tell apart provider?

My friend's cell phone just not long broke, and I want to buy her a new one for her birthday, however I know contracts can be finicky.

Her cellular provider is AT&T.
What is the process she will hold to follow in command to get a tentative phone under AT&T?

Will a contemporary contract need to be made? Or can a trial phone be placed under matching contract? What are the limitations to this?

Answers:    call AT&T for full detail. the SIMM card contained by the old phone can be removed and transferred to the modern phone. this card is what contains all the information on the user, including some of her stored contacts.

equal contract would probably apply. you've contracted for the service, not the hardware. they "give" people phones to get hold of them to buy contracts and offer them upgraded unit to get them to extend the contract. since you're giving her a fresh phone, their contract isn't affected by the demise of the elder unit and replacing it beside this one.
she will have 2 upgrade
