Answers:    Put a sim card in and see if it read it. Usually the chocolate is locked to verizon only. Before you purchase ask them if it is locked or not. Also you can unlock the phone outside. People put on the market unlock codes and other people will sustain you do it for a certain price (usually around 10$).
If its locked you can't bring back in if it isnt afterwards you can get surrounded by it
