It would be locked to AT&T if you bought it from apple.com but you can definitely unlock it near the right software. I have a sidekick 3 beside tmobile also and if the phone was unlocked you would be capable of use that sim card with the iphone. Some features would not work properly though and it might be somewhat disfunctional. All in adjectives yes, it is possible.
