Ipod unconscious?

I have a 3rd gen 40gb ipod.
When I charge,it distribute an apple icon.Does not start.buttons do not work nor the gearstick..Some one please suggest how to bring it back to life span.


Answers:    As the person above have said toggle the hold button then hold down the center and menu button. I've tried that on my ipods and none of my stuff have ever been delete. You might have to press down for more than 10 second or so. If the problems persists dance to a service center.
Only by resetting it. Hold down the Center button and the Menu buttons simultaneously. But all your songs will be delete. As well as photos etc...
