Hey! Mine froze yesterday too. I hold the 1gig.
Tech Support will tell you to plug it within and see if it recognizes computer, and be in motion to "add latest hardware" under Control panel and next follow the steps and then jump to My Computer and format your mp3 drive. It doesn't work... and I've tried taking the battery out and later turning it back on, and mine still froze. Call Sandisk Technical Support queue and they will give you a shipping sign so you can ship it to them and they will mail you a different one. We called today and they are going to email us one.
They said that within is something in the mp3 record that will purposely mess up your player, almost as if it has a virus.
I've individual had mine for 2 or 3 months and i've never dropped it or gotten it showery.
