Do I own to download itunes to put music from a disc to an ipod?

I'm downloading itunes now and it's taking forever.... I'm doing it for a friend and the ipod isn't mine, this hang about for itunes just make me value my creative ZEN V even more....

and if the answer's yes, can I download one of the previous version instead if it's shorter?


Answers:    NO!! If you have Window medium player that is adequate! RIP hte CD , copyt the music profile from the folder where you RIP the music files and PASTE it surrounded by the music file folder of the IPOD. VERY SIMPLE! You dont involve itunes at all!
Yes you do. Idk something like the earlier text but just travel to the itunes website and download from there. Idk why its taking so long, surrounded by the past, it have just taken me a few minutes.
