ok i got an ipod for chirstmas, and it other worked for a while and then today i plug it contained by and my itunes doest say its pluged surrounded by so i cant put songs on it.. but it does charge ( but my ipod doesnt say charging). and another point is when i plug in my iPod my computer dings 3 times really speedy.... i know its supposed to ding when i have a conection near usb cord but it never dinged that fast b4.
Answers: happen to me too. look at the manuals to find out how to reset it, and if that doesnt work, next figure out how to put it within force recovery. move about to the apple store as a last resort.
something is malfunctioning with your usb port, try other ports if you hold any, or another computer.
