I recently get an iPod Classic (80GB) for Christmas, but on iTunes and on my iPod information screen it tell me that my maximum capacity is one and only 74.31 GB ... I was assuming that the 5.69 GB be taken up by the whole interface of the iPod, but shouldn't the banister still have a maximum size of 80 GB but have 5.69 gigs bursting in? Maybe it be just a glitch, though, but I'm of late assuming it's the games and stuff programmed into the iPod when I got it.
Answers: Well that's an comfortable one. It may have some demo songs on it or some free games already downloaded on it, but in that is always some space used up on it because of supporting the software/hardware on the disc. You will find this on anything next to any sort of memory. I bought a 1GB Flashdrive brand new, beside absolutly no filed and single 986MB are able to be used. (1GB=1024MB) This is because it have to be able to operate. So even if you carry an Xbox 360 or a ps3 you'll come across this. You have a clearly normal iPod!
probably a manufacture defect
