My 2003 ipod doesn't charge which itunes do i require?

i got an ripened ipod from 2003 and itunes won't detect it can anybody help me?

you require the most up-to-date itunes....if that does not work, if you have the recept, you can other show them the problem for exchange....remember,90-day warrenty though:(....or sell it on ebay...idk
