How do you erase the contents of a commercial compact disc?

We were decorate our tree last dark and someone put on this horrible CD next to Christmas music being played by an organ. I thought I be going to lose my mind!

or some of these new miltipurpose shredders

or a unswerving cd distroyer, some make dimples adjectives over the surface, makes a pretty interior decoration

but really, commercial cds cannot be electronically erased and reused, the data is in reality carved into a metal plate and pressed at the factory, not by a laser in your computer.
they're erase protected...you can't
