How Do You Delete ALL the Songs contained by your iPod (not iTunes)?

So yeah..how do you do it? Also I want to ask how can you selectivly add music into the iPod? What my computer does is that when I plug it surrounded by, it automatically starts to sync, How do you stop that?

Answers:    when you first open Itunes near yoiur ipod hooked up, on that screen nearly midway down it should say restore ipod, click that and it will erase everything on your ipod and turn it wager on to factory. then beside Itunes open, click cut at top left, later click syncing, then almost midway down put a check mark on disable automatic syncing.
To manually remove or make a payment songs, on your play list uncheck the ones you do not want on the the ipod and the ones you do want on leave your job check then click sync and it will remove and put in the songs.
Well, when you plug your ipod in, you only go to the library and delete them????????????...
