Why does my 16 GB iPod touch single hold 14.84GB?

I got my iPod touch around a week ago and found immediately upon plugging the device into my computer that I have only more or less 15GB of space and really didn't think much of it. However as I be reading some information on CEQnA.com I came across an equation of 1000/1024 * X amount of storage to be your actual flash memory which should equate within my case to be in the region of 15.6 GB of storage. This is worrying me, should I be concerned that my iPod has a memory problem?
Please Help

the remaining space is taken up by the oprerating system
the touch runs on a mac OS thus needs more space than other iPods
Because the ipod requests space to store the software.

like games, the stop study, calander etc.

Al ipods come with atleast 1 mb smaller quantity than total capacity
So its completely commonplace
No, you shouldn't be concerned, because with any memory product such as a flash drive or a portable not easy drive, the formatted capacity is other less. Your iPod Touch runs Mac OS X, impossible to tell apart one found on the iPhone, which is probably gonna take up at least possible a little bit of space. Yes, it also uses the 1000/1024 equation item, and so the 14 gigs available to you is correct. If this was a memory problem, adjectives the storage products on earth would adjectives have it! lol.
