I bought an ipod past its sell-by date my friend and my itunes wont detect the ipod?

I recently bought an ipod past its sell-by date my friend and when i plug it into my computer the itunes wont detect it so i can put the songs on it. It says i have need of 7.0.. any help??


Answers:    ok adjectives you do is go to ADVANCED or HELP within the tool bar at the top of iTunes and select check for updates and it will automatically do that for you!!
