Answers: That depends on why it skips. If the plastic face (clear side) is scratched, it can be polished out. If the skip is cause by the media (actually the far side of the clear bit is where the information is stored) is undermined or coming apart, then within is nothing that can be done.
I own several that have the then problem, and there is nil I can do except replace them.
You should record the compact disc to your computer. That way, if the problem get worse, or you are not able to fix the compact disc, then at least possible you still have most of the disk.
You could try getting it professionally cleaned. I took some of my kids hobby cd's to a game store. They enjoy a machine that cleans up cd's and most of his games worked great after. We compensated 5 bucks for 10 cd's. The guy told me he could do games, movies and audio cd's. Not a bad contract...
