8gb iPod touch size?

How many songs can a 8GB iPod touch in actuality store?
I imported 64 songs from 5 CDs (they be automatically converted into AAC format) and the iPod memory shrunk to 7.2GB. Can it really store 1,700 songs like it's manufacturer said?

Holds up to 1,750 or 3,500 songs contained by 128-Kbps AAC format2

So, it depends on the format your songs are stored.
depends on the length of the songs and the competence (192kbps 128kbps)...etc. and its not actually 8gb because of the software surrounded by the ipod takes up space
