I plugged contained by a US 120v piece of equipment into a UK 240v power supply, is it immediately diluted??

I got given a Line 6 Pod which runs at 120v, 60Hz near a maximum of 100W. I didn't realise this and plugged it into a UK plug socket (240v) and found it didn't work. After scratching my director I then realised I have a US version instead. I be going to buy a transformer to allow me to use it, but would I have tattered the unit irreparably as I don't want to excess money on the transformer if it's now broken?!?! If it should still work, could I seize away with a transformer next to a max of 45w even though the unit states 100w max?!? Thanks contained by advance

Answers:    It is knotty to say if it is tattered. It depends on the device. I am not sure what a Line 6 Pod is, but if it has sensitive electronics, it is most credible going to be damaged. A device such as a motor can toy with this for a short while without everlasting damage. Does it smell resembling something has burned inside it? If so, after it is definitely dilapidated. You could call the entrepreneur and see if that would damage the device.
depends on if near was steam, smoke, etc..

More than likely it is tattered. As far as wattage consult the manufacture one and only.
