Can i use a line-in cord if the copper electrical system is exposed?

i know this sounds like a stupid quiz, but i wanna know for sure or not. what if i put duck(sp?) tape or something around it?

Answers:    as long as the cable does not come into contact near a conductive surface it should be OK....

covering the cable with electrical cartridge would be better...
however,,, the cable may be too damaged and not work or worst covering damage the equipment you plug into...
a unmarked lead is the best choice and smaller amount risky....
Wrap it in black electrical cartridge, and nothing else. Wrap it economically, and wrap farther up the cord than it is actually destabilized (just a little bit, say-so if 1 inch is damaged, wrap an extra inch on respectively end, for 3 inches total) If the electrics is damaged itself, you'll call for to replace the cord.
