The amount of adjectives output power provided by a device is 1.5 w . It is powered by a 48-v supply next to 100 ma?

what is the formula?

Answers:    Power = voltage times current (P = EI).

Power input to the device is 48 * .100 = 4.8 Watts.

Useful output = 1.5 Watts.

Power lost due to inefficiency = 4.8 - 1.5 = 3.3 Watts.

Circuit efficiency = 1.5 / 4.8 = 31.25%

I hope you acquire an 'A' on your homework assignment.
Formula for what? If you're looking at a power adapter that's rated for 100ma, afterwards that's the maximum current that it can withstand, not what it typically supplies.

Still, it your device IS consuming a total of 4.8w, then it matter what part of that consumption is considered 'useful'. For example, a car's engine may be rate at a certain horsepower, but when connected to the rest of the powertrain, such as the nouns, axle, etc, then in attendance are losses that reduce the final amount of power to the wheel.
I started to say: P=IE
But afterwards that doesn't balance near your numbers.
So, this is probably an AC circuit with reactive power losses. I'm out of practise, so I don't know the formula to include reactive power losses - P(Loss)=IE
I guess I'm too inefficient to figure out the complicated math....
