Answers: I am not sure if this helps (I assumed someone installed your dish - but if not), but years ago I worked for a guy who installed dishes. There are going on for 15? satellites over the US for television. He could point to a spot contained by the sky and know where a satellite be. He would know that a few degrees away in attendance was another one, and a few degree away there be another one, and so on. He would bring the tv and control box to the dish, and point the dish to the sky while watching the tv. The better he pointed it at the right satellite, then the better picture that he get. That's how he adjusted it. You may be getting channel, but not the right ones so you could have it pointed at the wrong satellite. The satellites own names and locations surrounded by the sky. It would help if you know what satellite carried the channels that you needed. Then, you would enjoy a general model of where to point the dish. Look at other dishes surrounded by your area and see if they are pointed east, west, south, or north.
