Answers: There are real and falsification ipods on ebay or any auction for that matter. Typically the imitation ones post a stock black ipod video photo for the auction. Check to see if the item is being shipped from outside the US and check the feedback of the hawker. It would really help if you could post the cooperation to the ebay auction you are interested in. Currently it is particularly hard to distinguish a deceitful ipod versus a real ipod base on price. Apple just released a contemporary generation of ipods so everyone is slashing their prices on the old-fashioned generations.
bought from this guy. The item be minor scratched on front and some on back, but it worked.
Minor issues I run into that weren't brought up by the seller:
-battery enthusiasm on a single charge of course is lower than expected. Didn't do a full exhaustive trial, but I'd guess my 4th gen 20GB ipod has around 5 to 8 hours from it's 12 hours were it brand unmarked in box
-when circling on the click pedals, a smooth motion is supposed to produce a smooth scroll or move of the cursor. As my finger scrolls long-gone the top however, it 'jumps' 3 to 4 lines at a time. I got used to it. I scroll over that top element when I want to jump forward or backwards contained by a song in a smaller motion so it does enjoy its perks
tips for purchasing:
-use PayPal, and wage via PayPal with credit card!! That agency, if there's a dispute where u inevitability to have $$ returned but the wholesaler isn't willing to, PayPal may know how to step in and relieve u out there. If PayPal isn't anyone very willing (some stories have mentioned PayPal be of no use), then your 2nd section of defense is disputing through your credit card company which varies per company, but are typically MUCH better contained by disuptes than paypal.
-read through some of the feedbacks and use your own judgements and common sense more or less the seller
-Use the 3rd relationship below to easily filter and read the denial. It may not be enough to sway u from purchasing, but if there's anything insightful towards your potential transaction next to this buyer, the neg feedbacks are a likely spot where on earth u'll see it.
-research and do price comparisons before u bid
-if you're concerned roughly stuff like battery-operated life, later ask the buyer ALL questions bef u bid to be persuaded
-if this is your first ipod, u['ll want to make sure u seize the USB connector so u can also charge and sync music without spending extra $$ for them elsewhere. Generic 3.5mm phone will work with it which mosts ppl alr own at least one set lying aroudn the house. Itunes software can alwasyp be DL online.
-read the description so u know EXACTLY what it does/doesn't come near, as well as condtions of stuff included
-DO NOT OVERBID!! If u stipulation it soon, then fine. Else, u may do better by buying it retail instead. Also, if u don't win, newly wait around for the subsequent ipod auction. Ipods are soo popular that they'll be plenty more to be sold on ebay.

-if you're unsure about batt natural life and this is imporatant to have as close to the max existence per charge, only sure method is to buy a new part
-If u want a better value or some "adjectives proofing", consider just good up for a better model. Sure, for a third of the price u got yourself a used 4th gen 20GB ipod. If u enjoy ANY reason to believe that won't be satisfactory, or that u'll want the color screen soon, better to save that $$, win an ipod classic with 80GB and color, which is still the better smash for the buck
Conclusion:
I'm overall happy next to my purchase. I see some ppl got a 4th gen 40GB ipod for up to $30 cheaper, but eh, that's the high and lows of buying from ebay. I don't care nearly photos, album art, lyrics, and videos to the smallest since I use my ipod while I'm driving, so i can't look at it for extended times. I just required something with relatively immense capcity, rather inexpensive compared to current fresh condition retail price, easy method to organize my music through desktop, and a rapid + simple way to fastforward/rewind inwardly tracks without taking my eyes past its sell-by date the road, and that's exactly what i got. Batt duration doesn't bother me since i won't be using it on 8+ hour flights.
Sometimes i'll lose the cheapskate attitude and getstuff new, but I took a wage that used electronics like an ipod would work while person cheaper than buying brand new would still suffice while abiding my $$, and so far, it's paid past its sell-by date.
