How do nouns recorder pick up nouns?

I've been trying to find out how soundtrack equipment actually picks up nouns, but all I can find is info on how they store it.
I'm interested to find out the differences contained by the way the human ear picks up sounds to the path a sound recorder does.
I know this is a difficult quiz, but any thoughts would be appreciated!

Answers:    Our ears pick up sound by vibrate hairs- i know it sounds wierd- but the hairs vibrate- and if a nouns is too loud- the hair falls down. Thats how you become audible range inpaired. The most common mike records- is by a vibrate piece of somthing (can't remember) and it transfers it to a electric signal. Our ears transmit it to a signal too.
