Bringing US electronics to the UK?
Apologies surrounded by advance if this comes stale as a rudimentary question, or have been answered beforehand, but I'm stumped.
Appears my family and I may be moving from the US to UK contained by a few weeks, and I'd love to bring over my US AV equipment rather than purchasing contemporary versions over near.
I understand roughly speaking plug converters for small items like cell chargers. However, I also hold a big LCD TV and surround sound system, and would love to verbs using them.
I'm told I'll need a approach to convert power from 110v to 220v, and also from NTSC to PAL. Lastly, I guess regionalization is a factor on DVDs.
So, my questions are:
1) do I obligation to buy separate products for all those tasks, or is near one solution?
2) what do I need?
3) where on earth is it sold?
4) Lastly, does anyone have a sense of what else I'll involve for general power conversions around the rest of the house(ie. is near something I can reasonably plug an American power strip into)?

Answers: I would recommend against it.
It may be more trouble than it is worth. Not only is the voltage different but AC operate at a lower frequency (50Hz vs. 60Hz) than in the US. That said most audio manufacture make sure near components use a switchable power supply and you get a different modular plug. Video presents a different issue, the video format etc.. and most of these products that are regionalized will not operate on a switchable supply.
So depending on exactly what you own ( hint to include model numbers) you may spend more adapt and shipping them than buying new.
