How do I convert or copy movies from vcd or dvd to my computer so I can copy the movies to my psp?
Answers: Files with an extension of .vcd or .svcd are really of late mpg1 and mpg2, respectively. All you have to do is copy them and afterwards change the extension to .mpg.
DVD's are considerably more complex. The actual files containing the video own a .vob extension. Problem is, there is greatly of information necessary to synchronize the audio and video components of the folder, and that is contained within the .ifo files. There are also .bup files, but those are simply backups for the .ifo files.
To sort it even more complex, .vob files are such large files that they enjoy to be broken up into 15 or 30 minute segments. So, for one movie, you could own as many as 8 movie segment, using up almost 8 Gigabytes of space.
Your best bet is a software package to convert DVD movies to compressed (smaller, lower quality) computer files. Even after one movie could take up almost 1 Gigabyte of database space. Problem is, most of the free video conversion programs do a terrible assignment of synchronizing audio & video on anything longer than a minute or two of video. And even the ones you pay money for, may still do a poor commission.
I experimented with various programs before finally finding one that suited most of my purposes, from AVS Media. Other society here, though, may have a different transport on the situation. Mine is just one belief.
