Hot to put video surrounded by my mp4?

thats my mp4... i do not use any program to put videos within it, just copy and mash in the right folder, i own checked that. The thing is that i tried beside iTunes and like it does not show up within the iTunes window, if you know what i denote.
i take a video next to the mp4 and it saves within the format .asf so i downloaded a file converted and converted the music video i hold in my computer to .asf After that i put it (in the sd card) within the folder where the mp4 save the video and what i see in the camera is somewhat picture of "?" and it doesn't play... any help please?
I hold also tried others formats such as mp4, avi, etc.
Sometimes it does not even show the "?" picture.
Please if you do not understand anything consent to me know and i will explain it again but i need facilitate with this. Thanks.
Answers: mp4 device doesnt certainly play mp4.
