Recording near shure mics....?

Im recording a singer playing the acoustic guitar, and i hold a shure sm57 and a 58. i plan on recording him both singing and playing at like peas in a pod time, since that is how he is most comforatble, and it give the best performance.

i know its not an undemanding thing to answer lacking knowing the exact set up, but how should i use the mics? 58 on vocals, 57 on guitar? vise versa?

i've been debating getting a fully clad condenser, so if you have any thoughts on that too, i'd appreciate it.

Answers:    You are right, that in need more information it is difficult to answer. The environment of the room is especially important. I'd tend to lean toward the 58 for voice and the 57 for the instrument. Opinions may swing a lot. There are tons decent condenser mics out near, but make sure that your equipment is fit of providing the Phantom voltage required to run them. For a good microphone at a wearing clothes price, take a look at the Heil Pro 30 series. In comparitive use at my radio stations they are as upright as the $500 mics we have be using (Which are suuperb mics) and cost half as much. They come surrounded by a couple of colors, but I buy the Pink versions since a portion of the proceeds budge to Breast Cancer Research.
