Phone Bars Help?!?

I just get my lg 8550 and i have some troubles. 1st of adjectives, on the display it shows two bars. the first one is titled EV
ANd the 2nd 1x wut does it connote?

also now whenever someone call me they hear, please wait while you hear this song, and this odd song comes up and then after 5 second it stops. how do you get rid of this?

also i hear some people can receive it like so after someone cant telephone call you, they put in their own voice, sorry phone call me back latter. thank you

also i cant find vcast song i.D.
i hav lg 8550 so its compatible, but i cant work it
