I also want to switch to HD so is near one better than another?
Answers: If you're looking to switch to HD then you really enjoy no choice but DirectTV if you really want a lot of HD channel. They will have 70 by the closing of Oct for $10 excluding your premiums and some are available now. They also hold the exclusive rights to NFL ticket through 2010 where every NFL winter sport is in HD respectively Sunday. One last document, the Jenny girl must work for Dish and she pastes impossible to tell apart nonsense within every post. She needs to update it though because Dish does NOT enjoy a better picture and they sure as heck don't have more channel. And I don't know what that guy is talking nearly compressed signals. He's just flat out wrong.
I own been a subscriber to DTV for over 7 years and surrounded by the amount of time I've only lost service a handful of times and that be only for a few minutes. I live within an area prone to thunderstorms but it have to be raining EXTREMELY hard to lose your signal. I own also had no issue next to the customer service. The few times I have call I got a party within 5 minutes and a resolution contained by 10 minutes. As a matter of reality, my HD LNB went out final Fri and I was bummed because I thought I would not win to watch my NFL ticket contained by HD but they sent someone out the NEXT day and he aligned my dish free of charge.
I know contracts can be risky, but m ore companies are going to that and as long as you get hold of what you want then who care. And by the way, you hold to sign a contract for Dish now too.

The best is Directv!! They are getting exclusive HD channel that the others won't. Also the new HD channel are coming in faster. I freshly upgraded and it is AMAZING!
DirecTV is horrible... many masses people enjoy complained about this service. They charge a huge amount of money to withdraw, their service goes out adjectives the time for the smallest reasons, they are other busy when you try and order PPV, their customer service is BAD, they appropriate forever when you try to get them to fix your satellite problems, they charge up the *** for simple upgrades, and once my contract is over within December, I am never getting it renewed again! Hope you have better luck near something else..
Dish Network is cheaper but works all matching. Go Dish!!
I would NOT use a satellite service. You need to rent a 'box' for every TV surrounded by the house. Many movies and HDTV shows are highly 'compressed' to release bandwidth. Signals fade in storms or snow. Stick beside good antediluvian cable.!!
