My M-Audio Soundphile DX4's had their internal amplifier blown. I obligation to get a unsullied amp for them. I figure a latest internal amp is out of the question, so what characteristics of external one can I get for underneath $30?

You're only TRUE choice is an external amp or another set of speakers.
PC speakers are not really that expensive... Labtech, creative, Klipch(sp?), logitech make pious sounding speakers that are less than those you own.
