Problems next to burning dvds and getting them to play on dvd?

i play dvd-r on my dvd player but the ones i burnt don't work am i burning them wrong or something

Answers:    Really antiquated dvd players may not be able to play any burnable dvds. Some dated ones may only read dvd-r and not the newer dvd+r. Most contemporary dvd players will play either.

Also, product sure that the disc is "finalized" using your dvd authoring software. Nothing more can be added, but it should then be playable surrounded by other devices and players. Depending on the software, check for an option to "finalize" or some similar sounding chance.
You have to convert your video to DVD format (VOB or MPEG-2) at first, later burn it to DVD, or else it can't play on common DVD player, if you don't know how to convert and burn DVD, you may take a look at this step by step guide
