What is "ibrick" pertaining towards the iPHONE?

I hear this thing roughly speaking the iPHONE being " ibricked". What does "iBrick" have it in mind, please explain. Thank all

If you hack your iPhone to work with other carrier besides AT&T, a software update from Apple could render your iPhone useless, a $400- or $600 brick: ibrick.
When Apple released an upgrade version of Iphone software, they claimed that it will not be unlocked. Also the unlocked iphones will become locked again or will become unusable when you upgrade. Therefore, it is useless..that's hy it is "ibrick" or "ipaperweight".

However, the sunshine after they relase the upgrade software, the hackers came out of a solution to unlock it again!...so, at hand is a bit of Iphone history for you.
