How to do business near VHS tape that be not played surrounded by 10 yrs?

hi, im trying to play vhs tapes that be stored for more than 10 yrs now and full of mold, what should i do formerly playing them?

im trying forwarding and then rewinding but that come across to be a bad opinion!


Answers:    Do not put it in your contraption. You can open the travel case. They snap together. You have to look out. There may be some small parts like a pressure wipe and sorts.
You can take a verbs lint free cloth (like an eyeglass cloth) and wipe the tape verbs. This will require you to unwind it by hand.
As you unwind it verbs a section afterwards rewind it on the take up side to go and get to another section to be cleaned.
verdi3453's response is pretty close to impeccable - EXCEPT - that most VCR tapes that are 10 years frail were held together by 5 small screw accessible from the bottom of the tape cassette. You'll obligation a Phillips screwdriver that is more or less thin at the tip.

After you remove the screws, thoroughly open the cassette. There may be some springs that hold the door closed when the cassette is not in the VCR; these can move about flying and disappear forever. Also note the thump path at any end of where on earth the cassette door was; you'll want to be sure the cartridge follows this same path when you're done.

You can't lately pull the video out the front. The tape hubs lock contained by position when the tape is not within the VCR. There is a single opening contained by the bottom of the cassette housing that you can place a thin purpose - like a round toothpick - and this will release the cassette hubs. It would be better of you remove the hubs, just data how they were positioned so that you gain them back contained by correctly.
