When i put a dvd within my player it doesnt work?

when i press play the dvd ejects every time. what could the problem be? its not that it is surrounded by use that often and its honestly new.

Answers:    is it a shop bought dvd film ??. check instruction booklet. near are dvd-r dvd+r dvd+rw and dvd- rw. not all dvd players play adjectives discs, get a region free player. this will play almost anything you throw at it. also might be a dirty unreadable disc.
