I bought a treadmill that did not come with a power supply for the electric dashboard and Fan (boo can you believe they want you to use D battery to run this?) Any way I enjoy tons of power supplies around the house and I am wondering how important the Amps are. The treadmill say I can order the 6v DC 2Amp from them for big bucks. I own a 6V 800mA and a 6V 500mA here at the house. Will they work if not why? And should I a moment ago go to radio shack and buy something nearby? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
Answers: A 6 volt 500 mA power supply will supply 6 volts of power to a load that draws partially an amp or less. At over partly an amp, the voltage will droop and the power supply could get hot and start smoking.
You can find deeply of power supplies on the web, but you obligation to match the plug and polarity to a power supply that you hold never seen.
Jameco.com is a apposite place to start shopping.
If your device is for 6V2000mA you can't use a lower power supply! You need another power supply.
