Can i use a 1000millamps 9volt plug?

I want to use my voice mailbox it use a 9volt 400millamp plug I found one that will work but it is 1000millamps will the 600millamp short it or will it work fine? I really need this work as I get ppl I need to ring up me when Im away .It worked fine Ive done this in departed with another device and never have an issue will it just work ?

But contained by amps, think of a river. 1 amp would be a small creek. A 1000 amps would be a generous, raging river. Apply that to a water mill. A river mill might run very in good health on a small creek but be destroyed on a large river because the force be too much.

You can apply that to smaller amounts of electric. It could be that hooking it up would cause surely no problems. I wouldn't chance it. That's nearly 100% more amperage than what's call for.
Yes this combination will work fine.

1) The Volts must match.
2) The milliamps must be equal or greater. the device will lone take what it requirements.
3) Only feed DC into a DC socket and it must be the correct polarity.
400 millamps is 4 TENTHS of an AMP... 1000 millamps is ONE AMP...
