.avi files, Sony Vegas 7.0?
He wants to be capable of OPEN .avi files in Vegas 7.0.
When he tries to instigate the .avi file solely the audio shows in the time smudge.
He does NOT want to convert them.
He already has the DivX codecs installed so they aren't going to be any minister to.
The .avi file is NOT from a digital camera
I would really appreciate answers and/or links to forums next to people near the same problem.

Answers: I have this problem with Adobe Premiere, but never found a solution. But moral luck
.avi is basically a slideshow of bitmap metaphors with an audio overlay, and I've other found them to be a pain within the @$$ to edit.
I can't suggest of anything other than converting it to mpg or something, but you said he doesn't want to.
