What is the difference between Line6 toneport & guitarport?
Answers: Actually, they ARE pretty similar. I think the fundamental point is that the Guitarport is a computer audio interface optimized for guitar, while the Toneport is more general purpose. So the Guitarport includes a single 1/4" jack, to glibly hook to your guitar, while the Toneport includes various row and mic inputs (depending on the model).
I think the software (Gearbox, which is essentially a software performance of the Pod device) is the same, or nearly so, for both of them. You can history with any device, just as you can beside any computer audio interface... it's just not the commission of the audio interface itself to worry nearly recording. You could use an application close to Sound Forge, Acid, or Sonar (the three I own, for example) for recording from any, ... Line6 actually sell a program called RiffTracker, specifically next to guitar recording from the Guitarport within mind.
You may also want to check out Guitarport online (http://www.guitarport.com), which offers access to course, tracks, and other guitar support stuff for Pod XT and Guitarport users. You get a 30 year free trial.
