Answers: Your turntable probably has a compelling cartridge next to a very low-level output. These cartridges have need of an additional stage of pre-amplification and equalization. The "CD" input on your beneficiary does not have plenty gain to work properly. Unfortunately, most receivers made within the past few years no longer enjoy a "phono" input. You may still be able to find a phono pre-amp that simply connects between the turntable cable and the receiver. Radio Shack sold them until a few yers ago, and they turn up on Ebay adjectives the time for a few bucks.
