Portable GPS Anti-Theft Trackers?

I am looking for a GPS tracker. Not something to help integer out where I am but something I can track from my home computer surrounded by case my vehicle is stolen.

It needs to be small and portable. I will be using it contained by my car for a few months however next this year I am hoping to go backpacking contained by Europe so I will want to put in my pack.

It will want to work in Canada, Europe and Asia.
It wants real time tracking.
I would prefer something that uses Google Earth for tracking.
It wishes to either own a chargeable battery contained by it or use AAs so I can use the charger I already have.

I stipulation something that wont brake the bank and have no monthly fees.

Answers:    You will probably have to income a monthly fee for the tracking service. You may know how to find a company that will sell you the equipment and lone charge a fee when they in actuality do the tracking service. Just google "gps tracking service" and you will find many companies within this business. Since you also want to possibly track your backpack go for the personal tracking fairly than the vehicle tracking. The personal tracking should be able to also track your vehicle but be sure to ask. The join for one company is below but there are others. I am not necessarily recommend this one.
You want everything and you want it cheap! Hmm :-)

You might be looking at the wrong technology for your purpose. You don't say what item specifically you are wanting to track but I presume you are conversation about protecting a laptop (since you mention putting it into your pack while travelling). If so, are you trying to protect the laptop itself or the background on it?

Lets start with the laptop itself.

You must construe that GPS requires you to be outdoors with a clear estimation of the sky. So, unless your thief decide to go to the shoreline with your stolen laptop or to preserve your stolen laptop in his backyard, how will your laptop's GPS know where on earth it is?

More likely the cat-burglar will steal the laptop from you and throw it into a bag or into the boot/trunk of their sports car because obviously they don't want you to see them holding it, and after they will take it to their house or shed or everywhere they store their stolen stuff. At best you will get a position at the point it be stolen (if that occurs within an outdoor setting, as opposed to inside a carpark or backpackers hostel).

If you are purely trying to protect the thousands of dollars you spent on your high-end laptop, it may be simpler just to buy insurance for it and replace it if it get stolen.

If you are trying to protect the data, later realise that your data is at risk from more than a short time ago thieves. Indeed dropping your laptop is probably the bigger risk. A worthy backup strategy (or a strong case) is probably a better investment than a GPS tracker.

GPS tracking makes seriously more sense for things like expensive cars as cars do tend to be outside like mad of time and the costs of the tracking service are then believable in jargon of the value of the property man protected. I don't think equal can be said for a laptop.
