Branded rechargeable batterys or not?
i need some rechargeable batterys (already hold a nimh charger) for my pmp.
I can either find 12 generic or nonbranded 2500 mah batterys for 15$, or get 8 energizer for 20 dollars, OR i can catch 2700mah branded ( never heard of it.. some messy one)..
All of these are from ebay..
Excluding the price, which one do you think i should buy? i.e. if the generic batterys will work alike as energizer and not ruin my device then i will grasp them.
What do you think i should do?
Answers: It's possible to find some 3rd World businessman that makes such low feature batteries that they could raison d`¨ētre some damage, but currently that IS pretty rare. Generic battery really wouldn't worry me.
What DOES get the name brands more expensive is the brand loyalty. Customers expect a dependable performance from the product, and so the mfr throws away abundantly of product that doesn't make the status. It also reduces customer dissatisfaction.
Also, generic battery probably won't last as long. Say you seize a couple years worth of usage from a name brand, you may single get a year and a partly from generics.
Look at it this way:
12 battery for $15 is $1.25 per battery.
8 battery for $20 is $2.50 per battery.
So, you're going to spend 100% more for battery that might last 33% longer? THAT'S what make the name brand what they are. For some associates, the perceived reliability is worth the extra money.
Me, I'm not impressed enough next to rechargeables to spend twice as much on name brand over generic.
mostly if the electronic device is more expensive than the name brand battery use name brand batts.
