I'm pretty sure my DVD isn't an HD dvd player but...?

It has an HDMI port so doesn't that get it able to play HD DVDS? Like I get Heroes Season 1 (HD) for Christmas and it doesn't work on my dvd player. My dvd player is the Samsung dvd r135

thanks

Answers:    No,

An HD-DVD will just play on an HD-DVD player. The HDMI connection give you nothing except a better picture.

A BluRay Disc will merely play on a BluRay player. But the regular discs will play on it. HD-DVD discs will NOT play in the blueray.

HD-DVD and BluRay are war to be the one and only subsequent generation. If I be you I would NOT purchase HD-DVD anything as that format appears doomed. The quality is not much better than a middle-of-the-road DVD, but BLURAY truly offers a more lovely definitive picture of quality that HD-DVD could never touch.

Good Luck.
It's a Samsung DVD recorder/player and can upconvert your DVDs to 1080i via HDMI.

And it can't play HD DVD movies.
Not necessarily. I hold a LG DVD player and it has HDMI support.
